Granite
Do not weep in your heart for us
Projecting lost opportunity of greatness;
Nor imagine cathedrals, libraries, skyscrapers
Or bridges. In that we know only transient anonymity.
We choose instead to anchor Place,
Creating with our cut, drilled and jagged shapes,
A womb to birth the exalted contrasts
Of the many faces of God.
Our strength amplifies the delicate;
The delicate amplifies our strength.
There is no greater honor.
